Alliance Racing, a top British Touring Car Championship team, is currently in a holding pattern awaiting a decision on building a new car for 2026 due to uncertainties in the car industry causing delays.
Team boss Pete Osborne mentioned plans to replace their Ford Focus ST, but discussions with a manufacturer on terms and models have been affected by the volatile EV market and trade tariffs.
The team is also navigating the upcoming 2027 BTCC ruleset changes which are expected to be a cost-saving evolution of the current regulations.
Osborne expressed frustration at the ongoing uncertainties and the need to finalize decisions to begin designing and building the new car project.
The team’s technical chief set a November deadline to start building the new car, highlighting the urgency to reach a deal sooner rather than later amid the changing landscape.
Despite facing setbacks, Alliance remains determined to secure a deal before the end of the season to transition smoothly from the Focus to a new model for competition in the BTCC.
