Lucio Cecchinello, the boss of Johann Zarco’s LCR Honda team, does not see any advantage in Zarco switching to the factory Honda team for the 2026 season. Zarco, aged 34, has expressed his desire to join the factory team when Luca Marini’s contract expires next year. Cecchinello emphasized the strong bond between Zarco, the engineers, and the team, believing it to be the ideal environment. He noted that LCR Honda provides the same equipment as the factory team, making the switch seem unnecessary in terms of performance. Despite Zarco’s aspirations for the prestige of a factory team, Cecchinello hopes he will make the best decision and emphasized that LCR Honda will continue to receive strong support from Honda. Zarco showed promising performance during Free Practice 1, posting the eighth-fastest time, highlighting his potential for the French Grand Prix.
