Johann Zarco, the Satellite Honda rider, is openly expressing his desire to secure Luca Marini’s factory seat in 2026. Marini’s contract with Honda is set to expire at the end of the current season, while Joan Mir is signed with the team until 2026. Zarco’s exceptional performance in 2025 has caught Honda’s attention, and he is optimistic about the ongoing discussions with the team regarding a potential promotion. Despite currently riding an independent RC213V, Zarco has led Honda’s resurgence under new technical director Romano Albesiano and is currently seventh in the championship standings. Zarco’s ambition to move up to the factory team is clear, and negotiations are progressing while maintaining open communication with his current boss, Lucio Cecchinello, and the Honda team. As discussions evolve, both Zarco and Marini are exploring their options, with Marini mentioning that negotiations have started but it’s still early days. The dynamics within the Honda teams are under scrutiny as the factory team tests upgrades not available to Zarco at his upcoming home race in Le Mans.
