Oscar Piastri makes McLaren Canadian GP assertion – ‘We looked like idiots’
Oscar Piastri expressed his belief that McLaren made a mistake by starting the Canadian Grand Prix on the intermediate tyres, which left the team in a disadvantageous position. The decision to start on the green-banded tyres was influenced by the light rain just before the race, but the weather conditions changed quickly, favoring those with dry tyres at the start. Piastri’s frustration with the situation led him to pit for medium tyres after just one racing lap. Despite the challenging conditions, Piastri made an error during the race, colliding with Alex Albon and causing damage to both cars. Piastri acknowledged his mistake and apologized for the incident, recognizing the unnecessary damage caused. Ultimately, Piastri finished outside the points in 11th place at the chequered flag.
