Fernando Alonso crash sparks Canadian GP sprint qualifying red flag
Fernando Alonso caused a stoppage in the Canadian Grand Prix sprint qualifying when he crashed his Aston Martin into a barrier. The two-time F1 champion locked up the front-left of his car on the approach to Turn 3 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Alonso’s impact with the barrier led to a lengthy delay for repairs. The incident marked the fourth red flag of the day, following other crashes during the event. As a result of the damages, Alonso, Liam Lawson, and Alex Albon did not take part in the sprint qualifying session.
