"A lot of unknowns" facing Porsche at Petit Le Mans IMSA showdown – Tandy
The factory Porsche 963 squad has been successful in the first season of IMSA’s new cars with spec hybrid systems, winning three out of eight races, including the last two at Road America and Indianapolis. They are currently just five points behind the championship-leading Action Express Cadillac and two points behind Wayne Taylor’s Acura. Tandy and Jaminet, along with Porsche WEC driver Laurens Vanthoor, will compete in the 10-hour Petit Le Mans showdown at Road Atlanta. The #25 Team RLL BMW of De Phillippi and Yelloly also has a chance at the title with a victory if their rivals finish third or lower. Tandy is uncertain about what to expect at Road Atlanta as it is a different circuit compared to Road America and Indy, but the team is confident after their recent wins. They believe their car performs well in heavy braking corners and when the tire temperature is lower, but they are unsure how the car will fare in the different temperature conditions at Atlanta. They have their own ideas about which cars could be strong or struggle at Atlanta, but the track is more unknown to them compared to Road America or Indianapolis.
