Vettel impressed Porsche in Hypercar test but no Le Mans decision yet
Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel completed almost two grand prix distances over four stints at Aragon in Spain, testing Porsche Penske Motorsport’s 963 hypercar. He logged 118 laps in the major pre-Le Mans endurance test, impressing Porsche’s director of factory racing, Urs Kuratle. Kuratle noted that Vettel handled the unknown car well, showcasing his skills and adaptability. Vettel’s enthusiasm and performance during the test run demonstrated his commitment and readiness to tackle new challenges. Despite speculation about potential F1 comebacks or WEC programmes, decisions regarding Vettel’s future remain unclear, with Porsche yet to finalize its Le Mans driver lineup. The test involved seasoned WEC drivers as well, showcasing Porsche’s strong driver roster as they aim for success at Le Mans.
