The reigning MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin has been given medical clearance to test his Aprilia bike, but he will miss the German Grand Prix in two weeks. He has been authorized to test this week, but Aprilia will wait until after a further medical check next week to make a decision. The MotoGP medical director authorized a one-day test but ruled out Martin’s return at the German Grand Prix, making his potential comeback at the Czech Grand Prix the following week. Martin’s injuries date back to pre-season testing, training accidents, and his fall at the Qatar Grand Prix in April, where he was run over by another rider. Despite positive progress in his recovery from rib fractures and a scaphoid injury, full healing is still pending, requiring two more weeks, according to medical assessments by Dr. Xavier Mir and Angel Charte. The upcoming test, expected to be held at Misano, will be the first conducted under a new rule allowing riders with long-term injuries to assess their fitness, introduced after Martin’s Qatar incident.
