While currently serving as rain lights, the LEDs are not planned to do more than that until IndyCar introduces its energy recover system this summer. Additionally, the previous non-LED rear wing endplates have been approved for use at high-downforce short ovals on the IndyCar calendar, where races are not held in rainy conditions.
