George Russell now faces a 43-point deficit in the title race following his Montreal car failure.
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff believes George Russell will rebound from his Canadian Grand Prix disappointment and remain determined in the Formula 1 title battle.
Russell was leading the race in Canada before an engine failure allowed his teammate Kimi Antonelli to claim an easy victory, extending Antonelli’s lead over Russell by 43 points.
Despite not having beaten Antonelli since the season opener in Australia, Russell is determined to close the gap of nearly two races’ worth of points in the championship standings.
Wolff expressed confidence in Russell’s resilience and determination, highlighting his ability to overcome challenges throughout his racing career.
With 17 races left in the season, Wolff believes Russell will focus on scoring points, moving forward, and giving his best performance on the track.
