Fernando Alonso points to hidden Aston Martin progress despite summer wait

Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin have struggled so far in 2026 – but there are signs of progress.

Fernando Alonso stated that Aston Martin is making progress in F1, despite no planned upgrades until after the summer break. The team is currently at the bottom of the constructors’ standings with zero points, tied with Cadillac. Issues with Honda’s power unit have plagued the AMR26, but the vibration problem has been resolved. In 2026, Aston Martin has developed its own gearbox for the first time, in addition to using customer power units. Alonso noted an improvement in performance from Miami to Canada and expects further progress in small increments leading up to Monaco, with the major upgrades coming later in the year.
