Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies insists the Milton Keynes-based squad would “encourage any further steps” to ensure racing independence between F1 teams.
Laurent Mekies of Red Bull expressed support for enhancing sporting independence among F1 teams, including measures to prevent conflicts of interest due to shared ownership.
The team’s practices, particularly staff movement and strategic alliances, were questioned by McLaren’s Zak Brown, prompting calls for stricter regulations from FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
McLaren’s team principal, Andrea Stella, reiterated the need for fair competition and independence during a press conference at the Canadian Grand Prix.
Red Bull’s Alan Permane stressed the importance of adhering to existing rules and ensuring fair competition among all teams in Formula 1.
Mekies emphasized Red Bull’s commitment to supporting additional measures if deemed necessary by F1 stakeholders to guarantee that all 11 teams can compete independently on track.
Despite discussions on various forms of collaboration in the sport, including shared ownerships and supply agreements, Red Bull did not indicate intentions to sell its sister team but affirmed a willingness to embrace further steps for ensuring fair competition in Formula 1.
