Toto Wolff is not convinced by the recent Mercedes upgrades, revealing it did not produce what it had “on paper” before arriving at the Canadian Grand Prix.
There is uncertainty surrounding the effectiveness of Mercedes’ recent updates, with Team Principal Toto Wolff expressing doubts about the expected performance gains.
In contrast to most teams, Mercedes delayed their major upgrade package until the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
The updates seemed to have a positive impact, as George Russell and Kimi Antonelli secured pole positions, sprint win, and the grand prix victory at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
Despite these successes, Wolff remains skeptical about whether the updates met the team’s predictions.
McLaren, on the other hand, has been rapidly introducing upgrades, adding a total of fourteen to the MCL40, showcasing the intense development pace in Formula 1.
Wolff acknowledges the challenge of assessing the true impact of Mercedes’ updates amidst varying circuit performances, emphasizing the importance of continuous monitoring and analysis.
