Caio Collet’s fiery accident has led to an exciting late shootout to determine the winner of the Indy 500. The race was suspended on Lap 194 of 200 after Collet crashed violently at Turn 2. The battle for victory had come down to Felix Rosenqvist and Pato O’Ward managing their fuel while David Malukas and Alex Palou followed a different strategy. Despite Malukas’ efforts to catch up to leader Rosenqvist, he was lagging by almost 20 seconds until Collet’s crash caused a dramatic turn of events. Collet managed to escape from the wreck, altering the dynamics of the race significantly.
