F1 told to accept ‘reality’ alongside motorsport ‘sibling’
Formula 1 is being encouraged to acknowledge that it can no longer separate itself from Formula E but should embrace their relationship in the motorsport community.
Formula E has experienced significant growth in all aspects since its inception in 2014, especially after attaining FIA world championship status six years later.
The recent launch of FE’s Gen4 ahead of its upcoming season has already garnered attention, a far cry from the days when two cars were needed to finish a race.
F1 drivers, including Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, have shown interest in FE, with some, like David Coulthard, even testing the Gen4 cars and praising them.
Both series now face similar challenges with energy management due to the transition to hybrid power units in F1, leading to widespread comparisons with FE.
Coulthard believes the two series, with a shared ownership, should be seen as siblings rather than rivals, as both are adapting to navigate the changing landscape of motorsport.
