There is real interest from Formula 1 drivers in Formula E’s new Gen4 car being unleashed at Monaco this weekend.
Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds announced that several Formula 1 drivers will be present at this weekend’s double-header in Monaco, where the new Gen4 car will be showcased. Former F1 driver David Coulthard is scheduled to drive the Gen4 car on Sunday morning around the Circuit de Monaco in its first fully public display in front of fans. The Gen4 car has piqued the interest of F1 drivers with its impressive performance capabilities, such as 815 hp, all-wheel drive, 1.8-second acceleration from 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph), and a top speed of 335 km/h (208 mph). The gap between Formula 1 and Formula E is expected to narrow significantly, with the lap-time difference in Monaco anticipated to be under five seconds, potentially even less in wet conditions. Formula E has received inquiries from F1 drivers seeking to attend the Monaco event and view the Gen4 car, with Dodds spending time with Haas’ Oliver Bearman and noting the high level of intrigue among the F1 community for the Gen4 technology on display at the event. Dodds mentioned in an interview with RacingNews365 that the F1 drivers are eager to see the Gen4 car and engage in discussions about motorsport, showing a keen interest in Formula E and the advancements made with the new car model.
