Le Mans FC is on the verge of returning to the top flight of French football for the first time since 2010.
Former F1 drivers Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen, along with tennis superstar Novak Djokovic and Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, are backing Le Mans FC’s incredible journey from financial ruin to the brink of French top-flight football.
Le Mans FC, which faced bankruptcy in 2013 and dropped to the sixth tier, is on the verge of promotion to Ligue 1 with just one point needed in their upcoming match against Bastia.
This star-studded investment group, led by OutField, has revitalized the club, previously fighting their way back to Ligue 2 through sheer determination.
OutField co-founder Pedro Oliveira highlighted the importance of bringing high-profile figures onboard to enhance the project’s branding.
The connection to motorsport is fitting for a town known for the famous 24-hour endurance race, with Massa and Magnussen joining through their ties with Georgios Frangulis, who played a crucial role in getting Djokovic involved.
Courtois, intrigued by the project’s vision, joined the venture in February after engaging directly with the investors.
