Max Verstappen and Ford have engaged in talks over the four-time F1 drivers’ champion competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“Ford has been in talks with Max Verstappen regarding a possible appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for over three years. The global director of racing for Ford, Mark Rushbrook, confirmed the ongoing discussions before the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps race. Rushbrook expressed Ford’s interest in having the four-time F1 champion join their endurance racing program at Le Mans. Verstappen has shown interest in sports car racing, even debuting at the 24-hour Nürburgring race and expressing a desire to compete at Le Mans. While Ford’s return to the Hypercar category in the World Endurance Championship in 2027 presents an opportunity, Rushbrook hinted that Verstappen’s Le Mans debut might not happen until later, depending on schedules and circumstances. Talks between Ford and Verstappen began with the Red Bull partnership announcement, with both parties looking for the right moment to align their interests. Verstappen, currently under contract with Red Bull until 2028, has shown interest in the right program for a potential Le Mans participation, as indicated by Rushbrook.”
