Daniel Ricciardo’s Emotional Paddock Comeback: A Heartfelt Return to the Racing World

Daniel Ricciardo confirms paddock return: ‘It’s going to really hit me hard’

Australian racing driver Daniel Ricciardo confirmed his attendance at the Indianapolis 500 this year, expressing his anticipation for the event’s impact on him. Having last competed professionally at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, Ricciardo has retired from racing and shifted focus to projects like being a Ford Racing ambassador and launching his own wine line.

He will promote his wine during the Indy 500, collaborating with Conor Daly, who will race for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. Ricciardo, appearing on Daly’s podcast, shared his excitement for experiencing the Indy 500 as a fan, highlighting the race’s special appeal to him.

Taking place on May 24, the Indy 500 precedes the Canadian Grand Prix by just a few hours. Ricciardo explained that the idea of attending the race arose during discussions about getting Daly more involved, coinciding with his father’s lifelong desire to be part of the Indy 500 experience. The decision was made to attend the event in 2026 as a memorable outing.
