Lawson clarified that the gearbox issue led to the loss of control and the subsequent impact with Gasly’s car.
Lawson emphasized that the incident was due to technical failure, removing any fault or penalty on his part.
Despite Gasly’s retirement, Lawson sought out Gasly to explain the situation and express regret for the incident.
Gasly’s teammate, Franco Colapinto, capitalized on the opportunity to secure a career-best result finishing in seventh place in the race.
