Unveiling the Strategy: McLaren Analyzes Fatal ‘Execution’ Moment for Lando Norris

McLaren boss Andrea Stella has explained how ‘execution’ doomed Lando Norris in the Miami Grand Prix.

McLaren boss Andrea Stella has elaborated on how the “execution” of Lando Norris’s pit-stop led to his defeat in the Miami Grand Prix. During the race’s only pit-stops, Norris waited until Lap 27 to pit in response to Kimi Antonelli, who pitted a lap earlier, thereby allowing for an undercut opportunity. Despite Norris emerging from the pits behind Antonelli, he was unable to overtake him in the final 30 laps and settled for second place. Stella admitted that McLaren should have pitted Norris earlier to potentially retain the lead until the race’s end. The team principal highlighted the crucial role of pit-stop timing and the need for flawless execution in maximizing race strategy. Stella emphasized the importance of teamwork in making McLaren competitive and acknowledged the challenges they faced in trying to secure the victory.
