Lando Norris claimed his first podium of the season – but felt McLaren had “no excuses” not to win in Miami.
Lando Norris admitted that he had no excuses for McLaren’s defeat in the Miami Grand Prix, where he was undercut by Kimi Antonelli for the win.
Despite stealing the lead on the safety car restart, Norris fell behind Mercedes’ Antonelli after a pit-stop on Lap 27, trailing by 1-1.5s throughout the second half of the race but unable to regain the lead.
Antonelli went on to secure his third consecutive win, while Norris settled for second place, marking the reigning world champion’s first podium of the season.
Norris graciously accepted the defeat, acknowledging McLaren’s lack of excuses for being undercut and praising the performance of Antonelli and Mercedes.
Reflecting on the race, Norris highlighted the importance of strategic decisions and minimizing mistakes in a challenging competition marked by aggressive driving and tactical battery usage.
