The drivers were at the mercy of the stewards after falling outside the 107% time in sprint qualifying in Miami.
Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will still compete in the Miami Sprint, despite Aston Martin’s struggles in qualifying. The team faced numerous challenges this year due to new rules and partnering with Honda for their power unit, which had its own set of problems. Lance Stroll encountered issues during qualifying, causing him to fail to set a time. Fernando Alonso’s time was significantly off the pace, not meeting the required 107% time. Despite this, both drivers were granted permission to participate in the sprint race based on their performance in practice. The stewards made the decision, referencing the FIA F1 Regulations, allowing both cars to start the race.
