Revolutionizing the Race: FIA Implements Game-Changing Updates to F1 Regulations

Further changes to the F1 regulations have emerged following the FIA’s April meetings with the championship and its teams.

The FIA has implemented additional safety measures for wet-weather racing at the upcoming Miami Grand Prix, including a ban on boost mode usage in rainy conditions. This decision comes after drivers expressed concerns about the aggressive torque of hybrid power units in the rain. The new rules have been approved by the World Motor Sport Council and restrict the use of boost mode solely to pre-programmed engine maps for overtaking in the wet. Additional restrictions have been placed on active aerodynamics, allowing only partial activation in low-grip zones. These updates aim to enhance safety and competitive balance, especially as Miami is forecasted to have rainy weather with tropical conditions that could impact the race. The FIA remains committed to prioritizing driver safety while ensuring thrilling racing experiences in challenging weather circumstances at the circuit.
