McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown has addressed A/B teams and co-ownership models in F1, something he sees as a significant threat to the championship.
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown has expressed his strong disapproval of A/B teams and co-ownership models in Formula 1, citing recent problematic instances as evidence.
Brown has been urging the FIA for a while to eliminate such practices, pointing out Red Bull’s ownership of a second team, now Racing Bulls, as a major concern.
The issue has resurfaced recently due to delays in McLaren acquiring new chief racing officer Gianpiero Lambiase, who is moving from Red Bull Racing.
To counter staff departures, Red Bull has hired Andrea Landi from its affiliate team as the new head of performance, leading to a restructuring of their leadership team.
In a media statement, Brown reiterated his unwavering stance against A/B teams and co-ownership, emphasizing the risk it poses to the integrity of fair competition in F1.
