Formula E will make its biggest step in performance yet with the Gen4 next season, which has been put on a similar level to one of F1’s most famous eras.
Formula E’s official Gen4 test driver, James Rossiter, expressed his enthusiasm for the new car, calling it “unbelievable” and likening the experience of driving it to the iconic F1 V10s from 2000 to 2005.
The unveiling of the all-electric Gen4 car took place at Circuit Paul Ricard, where media outlets, including RacingNews365, had the opportunity to witness its track debut.
Boasting an impressive power output of 600 kW (815 bhp), a top speed exceeding 335 km/h (208 mph), and a blistering 0–100 km/h (0–60 mph) time of only 1.8 seconds, the Gen4 represents a significant leap in performance for Formula E.
Anticipated lap time improvements across all circuits on the calendar suggest that the Gen4 could match or even surpass the pace of Formula 2 cars around the streets of Monaco.
The gap between Formula E and Formula 1 is expected to diminish significantly, as the Gen4 accelerates 30% faster than an F1 car and achieves comparable speeds at braking zones.
James Rossiter, deeply involved in the Gen4’s development, praised the car as a game-changer, emphasizing the remarkable technology and relentless acceleration the new vehicle offers.
