Verstappen Racing had to report to the stewards after the first qualifying session of the weekend at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, with the verdict not being good news for the #3 crew.
The #3 Verstappen Racing crew of Max Verstappen and Lucas Auer have been handed a three-place grid penalty for the upcoming 24 Hours of Nürburgring Qualifiers race tonight.
Lucas Auer was responsible for a collision with the #941 Porsche during qualifying earlier today for the Saturday evening four-hour race.
Auer was driving the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3 before Max Verstappen took over, leading to the #941 losing control and heading towards a wall.
Following an investigation, Verstappen and Auer received the penalty for their involvement in the collision, causing their grid position to drop from sixth to ninth.
They now face a challenging task in Saturday’s race, starting at 17:30 CET, with the event available for live viewing on RacingNews365.
