Lewis Hamilton has been in F1 testing action during the April break, but he didn’t know what he was testing.
Pirelli disclosed details of Lewis Hamilton’s two-day wet-weather tire evaluation at Fiorano this week. Hamilton piloted the SF-26 during the wet-test session at Ferrari’s circuit, specially prepared for tire development testing. Testing regulations prohibit Ferrari from incorporating upgrades or exploring different car configurations while Pirelli prescribes the test plan. Hamilton tested the full wet Cinturato prototype tires initially before assessing the intermediate tires. On the subsequent day, he covered 461km or 155 laps, achieving a best time of 1:00.470, completing a total of 884km or 297 laps. Pirelli is set for another test at the Nurburgring on April 14th-15th prior to the Miami Grand Prix, where McLaren and Mercedes will participate.
