Lewis Hamilton has hit the track in Fiorano as Ferrari conducts crucial F1 testing for Pirelli.
Lewis Hamilton is currently testing for Ferrari at Fiorano in a crucial F1 wet-weather tyre test for Pirelli. The test is being held over two days at Ferrari’s home track, allowing Pirelli to gather data on the wet tyre performance by artificially wetting the track. Hamilton and Ferrari are not informed about the tyre compounds and cannot evaluate new upgrades, as Pirelli is directing the run plans for necessary data collection. Originally, Pirelli intended to conduct wet-weather testing in Bahrain in early March, but it was canceled due to the Iran War outbreak, where Mercedes was also scheduled to participate before the cancellation. For today’s testing, Pirelli has essentially “hired” both Hamilton and Ferrari, with Charles Leclerc set to drive the SF-26 on the second day of the test, Friday. Ferrari has a filming day test scheduled for Monza on April 22nd.
