Honda boss Koji Watanabe clarified a misunderstanding raised by Adrian Newey regarding Aston Martin’s awareness of personnel changes in Honda’s F1 project. The transition occurred as Honda shifted focus to carbon-neutral technologies and personnel moved onto other projects within Honda. The Aston Martin-Honda deal was announced before the 2023 season, but faced initial challenges with vibrations affecting driver performances. Watanabe explained that engineers are regularly rotated between motorsport and other advanced technologies within Honda to rebuild the organization. He emphasized the strong relationship between Aston Martin and Honda, with key figures from both sides working closely together on the development team.
