Master of Strategy: Toto Wolff’s Decree on Mercedes Team Orders

Kimi Antonelli and George Russell are the championship contenders after three races, but can they stay in the fight?

Mercedes may consider implementing team orders in the F1 title race in the future, but not in the immediate future, according to Toto Wolff. After three races, Kimi Antonelli leads George Russell by nine points, with Mercedes currently holding the top two positions in the drivers’ championship. Antonelli has out-qualified Russell 2-1, demonstrating the strength of the W17 package in qualifying. Wolff did not rule out the possibility of team orders later in the season, emphasizing the importance of providing both drivers with the tools needed to compete. For now, both drivers are allowed to race freely as long as there is a gap between the cars.
