Max Verstappen’s Destructive Crash: Red Bull Shaken to the Core

That was a scary near-miss for Max Verstappen in Melbourne.

During the Australian Grand Prix FP2 session, Max Verstappen suffered a dramatic off-track incident at Turn 12 in Albert Park, causing significant damage to his Red Bull RB22 as he navigated the gravel.

The damage resulted in parts of Verstappen’s car flying off, requiring potential repairs or replacements which could see the Red Bull team working late into the Melbourne evening to get the car in optimal condition.

Previously showing strong pace by finishing third in FP1, Verstappen faced more challenging conditions in the second practice session, with his RB22 needing to be returned to the pits early on for an unknown issue.

Despite the setback, he was able to return to the track and finish sixth overall, behind the Mercedes, Ferraris, and the McLaren of Oscar Piastri, who impressed the home crowd by topping the session.
