Mercedes has headlined a packed FIA submissions document at the Australian Grand Prix, where all 11 teams have declared changes.
Mercedes made updates to the W17 before the Australian Grand Prix to put pressure on Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull, the favorites for the event in Melbourne. The changes include modifications to the bodywork and front and rear wings to boost downforce. McLaren also brought upgrades to the Albert Park race but is expected to lag behind Mercedes and Ferrari, with the real competition status emerging after qualifying. The reigning constructors’ champions introduced a revised floor geometry for better airflow around the MCL40’s rear and upgraded rear suspension fairings and wing, increasing aerodynamic load. Red Bull and Ferrari noted changes in response to the 2026 regulations, detailing modifications like front wings and rear wings. Williams, Racing Bulls, Aston Martin, Audi, and Cadillac also made changes to their cars for the event, while Haas stands out with seven unique differences in F1’s new era.
