McLaren boss Andrea Stella has identified a critical area that F1 teams must keep themselves “busy” with.
McLaren’s Andrea Stella confirmed the team is striving to meet the new F1 weight limit with the MCL40. The championship has reduced the minimum weight limit by 30kg to 768kg in the new regulatory era. While this change aims to create lighter, more agile cars for better racing, it presents a challenge for teams. Designers must now find ways to trim weight beyond the chassis and MGU-H components. Stella emphasized McLaren’s goal to be under the limit to allow for ballast adjustments, a key strategy in optimizing car performance. It seems teams will continue focusing on weight reduction for the foreseeable future to maximize their competitiveness in the sport.
