Revving Up Fairness: FIA Implements Changes to F1 Regulations in Response to Mercedes Engine Dispute

The power unit compression ratio saga has been met with a fresh update as the FIA updates its regulations.

The FIA has updated technical regulations regarding compression ratios, seemingly resolving the ongoing saga involving Mercedes’ engine trick. Other power unit manufacturers had scrutinized Mercedes for exploiting an engine loophole. Compression ratios must now be measured at 130 degrees Celsius, in addition to ambient-temperature testing. The new engine inspection rules will now begin on June 1, as outlined in Article C5.4.3 of the technical regulations. These stricter measurements are expected to limit any potential advantage Mercedes may have had with its engine trick.
