Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur found some positives amid a challenging weekend in Brazil that saw Mercedes and Red Bull overtake them in the constructors’ standings. Despite Leclerc and Hamilton starting sprint race in P8 and P11 respectively, they finished with P5 and P7, scoring six points. However, Mercedes’ P2 and P3 finishes earned them more points, pushing Ferrari down. The grand prix qualifying saw Hamilton starting in P13 and Leclerc in P3. Unfortunately, the Brazil Grand Prix ended with a double DNF for Ferrari due to clashes, making it a tough Sunday for the team.
Vasseur highlighted the team’s decent performance in sprint qualifying and good pace in the sprint race, but acknowledged the disappointments of the grand prix. He explained the unfortunate incidents that led to Leclerc’s and Hamilton’s retirements. Despite the setbacks, Ferrari now aims to regroup and prepare for the final triple-header of the season, currently standing P4 behind Red Bull and Mercedes in the constructors’ standings.
