Ferrari will compete at a reduced power level for the first time in the current season at this weekend’s World Endurance Championship round at Interlagos. The Italian manufacturer’s 499P Le Mans Hypercar will race at 480kW (644bhp) due to Balance of Performance adjustments for the Brazilian event on Sunday. This marks a decrease of 35kW (47bhp) compared to the previous Le Mans round and 9kW (12bhp) less than the Spa 6 Hours in May. Additionally, the car has gained 27kg in minimum weight over Le Mans and 12kg over Spa levels. The changes are in line with the new BoP system in place for the WEC races this year to ensure fair competition among manufacturers. Toyota’s GR010 HYBRID LMH and Porsche 963 and Cadillac V-Series LMDhs, among others, have also seen adjustments in power and weight compared to previous events, setting the stage for an intriguing race weekend at Interlagos.
