Shane van Gisbergen has been dominating the streets of Chicago with four wins in five starts between the Xfinity and Cup Series. The only race he didn’t win was in 2024 Cup race due to getting wrecked out.
His latest victory places him among Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, and Christopher Bell as drivers with multiple Cup wins this year. Additionally, he is the winningest driver at Trackhouse this season.
Van Gisbergen has made history by becoming the winningest foreign-born driver in the NASCAR Cup Series with three wins. Moreover, as a rookie, he has the most wins in nearly 20 years, potentially surpassing Denny Hamlin’s record.
His winning pace of three Cup wins in 33 career starts matches the legendary Jimmie Johnson’s early success and puts him in elite company. Notably, Van Gisbergen achieved a rare weekend sweep by winning both races from pole position, a feat only matched by Kyle Busch back in 2016.
