The Future of Motorsport: WRC 2027 Regulations Spark Excitement Among Tuners and Manufacturers

Interest in the World Rally Championship’s 2027 technical regulations is increasing among new manufacturers and tuners, as final adjustments are made to the rules.

The WRC is set to introduce new technical regulations in 2027 to attract new manufacturers and teams by offering more affordability and flexibility.

These regulations will enforce a €345,000 cost cap for cars, maintaining performance similar to current Rally1 models but with a space frame chassis and Rally2 components.

Tuners and automotive manufacturers will have the opportunity to build the chassis and design bespoke bodywork under the revised regulations.

The updated bodywork regulations approved by the FIA in June will enable a wide range of designs, from saloons to hatchbacks, crossovers, and unique creations.

Following the announcement of the regulations last December, the FIA has revealed that at least two tuners are actively engaged in projects for 2027.

Future involvement in the WRC from 2027 is hinted at by a potential manufacturer, with discussions scheduled for this week’s Rally di Roma.
