After crashing out of the Austrian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen is more than 60 points behind Oscar Piastri at the top of the F1 standings. Despite this, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko is not worried about performance-related exit clauses leading to Verstappen leaving the team early. Verstappen’s retirement in Austria was a further blow to Red Bull on their home turf.
Following his exit from the race, Verstappen reportedly tuned in to the Spa 24 Hours to watch his Verstappen.com GT team win. This result in Austria broke Red Bull’s 77-race points-scoring streak and marked five races without a victory for Verstappen. Questions now arise about Verstappen’s future at Red Bull due to this performance drought.
Although Verstappen’s contract with Red Bull runs until 2028, there are potential exit clauses based on performance. Despite being in third place in the standings and Red Bull in fourth, Marko asserts there is currently no reason to doubt Verstappen’s contract will be fulfilled. Verstappen himself gave an ambiguous response when asked about his future with Red Bull Racing, keeping the speculations alive.
