In Portugal and Sardinia, Ott Tanak had been denied twice by Sebastien Ogier in successive World Rally Championship rounds, but the third time proved to be a charm. Tanak emerged victorious in the Tanak versus Ogier trilogy at Acropolis Rally Greece, delivering a sublime drive in challenging conditions. The rough stages, scorching heat, and long days at the “European Safari” demanded superhuman efforts from all involved, with cockpit temperatures reaching 70C. Tanak’s strategy to manage tyre wear and push where smooth paid off, leading to a flawless weekend. Despite a late gearbox issue, Tanak held off Ogier to secure a long-awaited win, ending Toyota’s dominant start to 2025.
