Lando Norris earned pole position for the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix after a dominant weekend in Spielberg. He showcased his blistering pace by securing the biggest gap of the season with a lap time of 1m03.971s. Norris was untouchable in the qualifying session, with Charles Leclerc ultimately behind him but splitting the McLarens. Championship leader Oscar Piastri qualified in third position due to a late spin by Pierre Gasly, causing disruption for Max Verstappen who will start seventh. Lewis Hamilton will start fourth, followed by George Russell in fifth and Liam Lawson in sixth. With a trackside fire in Q2 causing a red flag, drivers pushed for fast laps, resulting in various eliminations, including Yuki Tsunoda starting 18th. Carlos Sainz and Nico Hulkenberg will line up on the back row, highlighting the intense competition during the qualifying session.
