Lando Norris returned to the cockpit and set the fastest time in second practice for the Austrian Grand Prix after his crash in Canada. He was 0.157s ahead of his teammate Oscar Piastri, who leads the championship. Max Verstappen took third place for Red Bull. Lance Stroll was the closest competitor to the McLarens, with Charles Leclerc in fifth for Ferrari. George Russell, who won in Canada, was sixth fastest in FP2. Lewis Hamilton struggled, finishing in tenth after gearbox issues and being summoned to the stewards for blocking another driver. Liam Lawson had a concerning issue with his car during the session, while Verstappen and Piastri focused on long runs towards the end of FP2.
