Louis Foster Makes History: Secures Pole Position at Road America in Debut IndyCar Race

“On a scorching hot Saturday in Wisconsin, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLRR) rookie Louis Foster surprised everyone by securing the pole for Sunday’s XPEL Grand Prix at Road America with a superb 1:44.5141s lap.

Foster, in his young NTT IndyCar Series career, achieved his first pole position after a bold decision not to switch to red tires in the Fast 12 round.

Despite being the underdog, Foster’s exceptional performance left him in disbelief and thrilled for the weekend ahead.

Alex Palou, the favorite for pole, had to settle for second place, followed by Kyle Kirkwood in third due to an MGU issue plaguing his team.

Scott McLaughlin and Christian Lundgaard completed the top-five, while Graham Rahal finished sixth, making RLRR the only team with two pole contenders in the final round.

Overall, it was an intense and surprising qualifying session filled with unexpected outcomes and disappointments, leaving some drivers looking forward to redemption in the race.”
