Turkey’s Grand Return: F1 poised for Istanbul comeback as Madrid circuit faces potential setbacks

Turkish Grand Prix bosses are prepared to host a Formula 1 grand prix in 2026 if the new Madrid circuit is not completed on time.

The 2026 F1 calendar, released on June 10, includes a race at the new Madring circuit in Madrid.

Construction of the Madrid circuit with a 5.4km layout and 22 corners, facing opposition and doubts about completion by September 13.

If the Madrid circuit is not ready by the deadline, Istanbul Park F1 circuit owners are ready to step in, but prefer a permanent spot on the calendar.

The Turkish Automobile Sports Federation, TOSFED, aims for a long-term F1 contract and has government support for the Turkish Grand Prix proposal.
