At Mugello for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix, the hot topic is the discussion about brakes, following Francesco Bagnaia’s brake disc change in Aragon. Selecting a larger disc size can improve feeling, but it doesn’t guarantee better performance as it comes with drawbacks like added weight. Brembo’s Andrea Pellegrini explained the challenges at Motorland and how Mugello presents a different braking challenge due to lower energy levels. Controlling temperature is crucial for MotoGP bikes, as it affects stopping power and handling, especially with disc changes. Interestingly, Bagnaia and his Ducati teammate Marc Marquez will have slight differences in brake disc specifications at Mugello based on their temperature management needs.
