Ai Ogura has received clearance to compete in the Italian Grand Prix after passing medical checks at the Mugello track. The Japanese rider was sidelined for the Aragon and British Grand Prix due to a right tibia fracture sustained in a crash at Silverstone. Following surgery and a smooth recovery, Ogura reports no lingering issues from the injury.
Despite not being able to engage in any fitness or bike training before the weekend, Ogura feels physically fine and is eager to get back on the bike. His absence meant that Moto2 points leader Manuel Gonzalez had a chance to impress during the test run for the Trackhouse team, with Ogura praising Gonzalez’s performance and rapid lap times.
As he returns to racing, Ogura faces the challenge of competing at a track that he is not particularly fond of, featuring numerous fast, flowing corners. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic and eager to see how he performs after resuming his regular activities post-recovery.
