Ex-Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica experienced persistent downshift issues in his Ferrari during the Le Mans 24 Hours, making the car feel “really on the edge.” Despite the challenges, Kubica, Phil Hanson, and Yifei Ye managed to secure victory in the #83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P LMH. Gearbox problems plagued their race, requiring them to find solutions while battling factory sister cars. Kubica described the situation as tough, especially in certain corners, where the car was “really, really on the edge.” Despite the difficulties and radio communication issues with teammates, Kubica successfully completed a hat-trick of wins for Ferrari, feeling proud to contribute to the victory after narrowly missing out in 2021. The experience of Le Mans held a special place for Kubica, reminiscent of his early karting days, and he was elated to achieve his goal of winning at the iconic track.
