Red Bull had raised concerns about Russell’s behavior behind a late safety car, but the stewards ultimately rejected the claims. Mercedes successfully defended Russell against Red Bull’s allegations of unsportsmanlike conduct, with the stewards concluding that the appeal was unfounded. As a result, Russell’s first win of the year remained intact, allowing him to keep his race win.
