After the Canadian Grand Prix, the Red Bull Formula 1 team filed a protest against George Russell with the FIA race stewards.
George Russell, driving for Mercedes, clinched his first victory of the 2025 season in Montreal ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
The race concluded under a safety car due to a collision between McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, causing debris on the main straight.
During the safety car period, Verstappen expressed frustration towards Russell for allegedly driving unpredictably and causing him to overshoot approaching the final chicane.
Subsequent to the race, Red Bull initiated the protest against Russell, likely related to the safety car situation, leading both teams and drivers to meet with the stewards at 17:50 local time in Montreal.
